Disciples Heritage

In essentials, unity;
in non-essentials, liberty;
in all things, charity.

Not the only Christians,
but Christians only.

Pastor

Pastor Mary Jo Bradshaw has lived in the Long Beach area since 1965.  She and her husband, Charlie, have been married since 1976 and have three children and three grandchildren. She received her B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from California State University, Long Beach and is currently completing her Masters of Divinity at the Claremont School of Theology. Pastor Mary Jo’s favorite scripture is Micah 6:8, “God has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, but to love justice, act with kindness, and walk humbly with your God.”

Jerry Gideon

Music Director

Our Music Director since January 1996, Jerry Gideon and his three sisters and two brothers grew up on a farm outside Willard, Missouri. The family attended the Methodist Church. Jerry decided to follow Christ at age 16 when the preacher at a revival spoke about God’s love and acceptance and something in the message resonated with Jerry’s spirit. He eventually earned a degree in Music Performance from Southwest Missouri State and moved to California in 1969 to study with a professor from USC. Jerry is an active member of Holy Spirit Fellowship, but he is appreciative of the loving and joyful group of people we have at North Long Beach Christian Church.

Office Administrator

Lolita McAllister grew up in a Baptist church in Des Moines, Iowa and sang in the Junior and Senior Choirs.  She has been singing professionally since high school, signing her first recording contract at sixteen and eventually spending 13 years on the road, 7-½ years as a member of the Platters.  When she left the Platters Lolita moved to Tel Aviv, Israel for 2-½ years where she sang nightly in clubs, concert halls, and kibbutzim. Lolita has always had a deep faith and spent time on a spiritual journey where she explored several denominations, including Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, and African Methodist Episcopal. She and her husband, Kent, joined North Long Beach Christian Church in February 1994.
